There is a wonderful opportunity to get up close and personal with a plethora of aircraft at Airworld Aviation Museum in Caernarfon. If you’re looking for a Caernarfon hotel then why not drop in on the delight that is Ty’n Rhos Country House.

Everybody is intrigued by the magic of aviation. Whether viewing downwards aboard an aircraft or marvelling upwards silver birds piercing the heavens – it really is a sight and an experience to behold.
The Airworld Aviation Museum is located on the grounds of the airfield of former RAF Llandwrog, Caernarfon Airport and it offers a spectacular collection of aviation memorabilia, interactive opportunities and most notably some fantastic aircraft.

Waiting for you inside Caernarfon Airworld Aviation Museum are a mixed bag of aircraft from throughout the ages. This includes a D.H. Vampire, Hawker Hunter T1 and a Hawker Sea Hawk.
They also boast a collection of records which detail virtually every crash site within the Snowdonia Mountain Range. Even if somewhat mundane, it is extremely interesting hearing some of the stories of luck and languishes of aviations past. It also heralds a large collection of pieces and artefacts that are arranged around a magnificent balcony.

The museum resides on the airfield that was the birth places of the RAF Mountain Rescue Service that was formed in 1941. It was the vision of Flight Lieutenant George Graham MBE, and although not officially recognised until 1943, it has offered a much needed service to mountain dwellers ever since. A complete history of the RAF Mountain Rescue Service is on show as part of a comprehensive exhibition at the museum.

For a truly fascinating encounter why not visit the museum the next time that you’re visiting the Snowdonia area? They are open daily through the summer months and are based at Caernarfon Airport, Dines Dinlle just outside of Caernarfon.
