Santa Trains at Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways

December brings a visit from Santa and his elves, as they plan to ride the train between Porthmadog and Tan-y-Bwlch on the Ffestiniog Railway, giving presents to those good boys and girls that are on-board  The train trips are perfect for a family day out, as feedback from both adults and children has been of a positive nature throughout past events.

Trains will be departing from Caernarfon at 10:30, 12:30 and 14:30 on 8th/9th, 15th/16th and 22nd/23rd December 2012. Santa and his elves pass through all train journeys giving out presents to the children, along with plenty of jovial fun, laughter and jokes along the way.

When trains reach Tan-y-Bwlch or Waunfawr, there is a chance to take photographs with Santa and his helpers. Not only this, but you are able to stretch your legs and get a breath of fresh air in these wonderful scenic areas. Adults can enjoy a glass of sherry and a mince pie on the ride back.

Visitors will also get the chance to get their hands on some fantastic last minute Christmas gifts from souvenir shops in Porthmadog or Caernarfon. Should you choose the Ffestiniog option, you will get the chance to enjoy a gorgeous lunch at Spooner’s – the award winning cafĂ©/bar which serves snacks and meals suitable for all of the family.

Those staying at the Oakeley Arms Self Catering Blaenau Ffestiniog will be situated ideally for easy access to the Ffestiniog Railway Station, where the journey can be started. Just a 10 minute drive away, you should most definitely incorporate a day out like this to your trip.
